Gauteng on the Move

Gau1
Off to the Rosebank train station we went on the 02 September 2011, for a trip on the Gautrain. Lloyd thought it would be a great idea to offer this opportunity for those who have not yet experienced the ride; needless to say none were left disappointed. The stations were immaculate and modern and the service impressive. Every stop had posts containing various pamphlets with relevant information and there were officers on duty at every corner offering assistance – with a smile on their face! At lightning speed the Gautrain took us from Rosebank to Sandton to Midrand in just 20 minutes – which certainly saved us the time it would’ve taken stuck in traffic.

With increasing demands for transportation facilities and the consequent traffic congestion; the aim is to empower citizens and promote the growth of economic activity within the province. The process is simple and requires a Gold Card to be bought at the station beforehand which will be valid for 5 years. All that is necessary is to pre-load the card so there is enough credit for each journey. The electronic, cash-free ticketing system is convenient and safe. No food, chewing gum or drinks are allowed on the train to ensure the good conditions are maintained.

With a few loose ends left to complete, the Gautrain situated in Jo’burg, the heart of Africa’s business hub is not only gaining a reputation for businessmen/women and travellers alike as the ideal method of transportation but certainly promoting Jo’burg as a word-class city.
