Although there is a specific exclusion in most motor policy wordings for damage to vehicle tyres, except if they are damaged as a result of an accident, it is standard procedure for wear and tear to always be deducted. However because of the condition of our roads, we have reviewed our stance on the matter.
We will in future accept these claims under the following conditions:
- Tiger Wheel and Tyre (or whichever supplier the client chooses to go to) must state on their invoice the portion of wear and tear that was already on the tyre/s prior to the incident. Without this one line report the claim will not be entertained.
- Settlement will be made less the insured’s basic motor minimum excess.
