BIB Unite – The best gift you can give a child is an education

Unite

BIB Unite – making a difference. In a country filled with corruption, crime and so much negativity, it sometimes makes one wonder what difference one individual or group of people can make with all the conflict we have. Mother Theresa said a simple stone can cause many ripples and that ripple effect is like one candle lighting another…

Aaron is a 12-year-old boy in grade six, raised by a single mother. His mother works at a Laundromat and earns minimal wage. On her nominal salary, she supports herself, young Aaron and her two parents.  Aaron was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a developmental disorder characterized primarily by he co-existence of attentional problems and hyperactivity, with each behavior occurring infrequently alone and symptoms starting before age seven.

He had endless problems at other schools as he had little or no support.  Northridge Primary, a school based in Pretoria North-East,  opened their doors and hearts to him. The teachers assist with getting him a second hand school uniform, providing transport to collect his medication, taking him for evaluations and packing daily lunch for Aaron. Much of the mother’s plight was relieved. Still, school fees needed to be paid.

She works double shifts at times, yet, there is never enough money. When Barkers Insurance Brokers heard of this, they immediately offered to take that burden off the mother.  Aaron’s school fees for 2012 is paid in full. THANK YOU BIB. Crying with gratitude, Aaron’s mother said she does not want her child’s picture published as she tries very hard to protect him from discrimination. “Most days i do not know how my son will get to school.

"But taking him out of Northridge is not an option. It is the first school where my son feels accepted. Now God sent more angels to allow him to attend school. Thank you BIB for the generosity and for keeping my son in school.  For the first time ever, my son’s school fees were paid in full.  It means more than anyone would ever know.”
