We are thrilled to once again be supporting a cause close to our hearts: the Johannesburg Dream Centre’s (JDC) Christmas Shoebox project.

There are far too many children in South Africa who wake up on Christmas morning without a single present to open, making them feel forgotten, unimportant, and even distressed.

Beyond this, their parents are left to bear witness to this upset, feeling heartbroken and inadequate that they can’t help their children share in the joy of Christmas.

Unlike many other Christmas present initiatives, JDC physically hands over the gifts to the parents, in preparation for Christmas day. This means that both the children and parents experience the joy of gift opening together, on Christmas morning. These parents can feel pride and happiness in making their child’s Christmas as special as they deserve.

Barker Unite invited their staff who were in a position to pledge a box to this cause and arranged for the boxes to be delivered to JDC in time for their big parent handover on the 3rd of December.
