Overview

The “COMMERCIAL TEAM” is headed by Ken Barker who has over 40 years experience in the South African Insurance market.

We insure a variety of businesses in this division, ranging from small service related businesses with very few assets up to large mining houses, construction companies etc.

Due to the diverse nature of businesses that we insure we have access to all the major insurance companies. This enables us to select the most appropriate insurer for each client as different insurers have their fields of specialization.

All policies are reviewed on an annual basis where a consultant from our office would call on the client and review the insurance requirements to ensure that cover is adequate.

This division also incorporates MOTOR FLEET INSURANCE which is mostly covered by Hollard Insurance Company Limited. Depending on the size and makeup of the fleet we are able to tailor make an insurance package for each client. We also administer large self-funded motor schemes and aggregate excess schemes on behalf of clients.

MOTOR VEHICLE SECURITY     We assist clients with managing their risk and therefore take motor vehicle security very seriously. In March 1995 we realized that we could not sit back and accept criminals stealing our clients vehicles without any difficulty. We embarked on a vehicle security “crackdown” which is still in operation today whereby clients install upgraded security systems in
return for:

• Up to 35% premium discounts.
• Reduced theft excesses and
• Contributions towards the security installation.

Years have passed since the implementation of the above plan and we would like to report that it has been unbelievably successful. Our clients have installed approximately:

• 2150 VESA level 4 immobilisers
• 275 TRACKER tracking systems
• 228 NETSTAR Tracking Systems
• 1355 MATRIX Tracking Systems
  

Detailed below are our current recovery statistics:

The BIB Scheme is the only scheme to actually contribute towards the cost of additional vehicle security. Since inception in March 1995 we have contributed a total of R1.79 million towards our clients additional vehicle security which has paid off as we have saved vehicles with a total value of R20.64 million. This is extremely meaningful and has been worth the trouble.
